The pair of male, maneless lions that, unusually, hunted humans rather than livestock, evaded traps for many months. Lt. Col. John Henry Patterson eventually shot the man-eaters, but the legend lives on.

A variety of animals can be seen in the park, such as lion, leopard, cheetah, zebra, giraffe, serval, antelope, kongoni, lesser kudu, oryx, klipspringer, impala, stripped hyena, ostrich, gazelle, buffalo, elephant and many more.
