Overview

The best time for wildebeest migration safari is from July to October of every year.  The Game reserve is renowned for its large population of big cats and the wildebeest herds alongside other thriving wildlife in the ecosystem. It allows two full days in the vast rolling savannah.

You will easily see the big five wildlife  i.e. Lions, buffalo, leopards, and the elephant. You will also see other wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, many species of antelopes.

Tour Plan

Day 01 Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve

Pick you up from your Nairobi hotel in the morning – A safari briefing session with our expert tour guide, then drive along the floor of the Rift Valley to the vast Masai Mara game reserve to arrive in good time for lunch. Rest for a while then proceed for an evening game drives followed by dinner and overnight stay at the lodge/camp.

Day 2 Masai Mara full day

Day 2 of our Masai Mara Migration safari you will have early breakfast then head out with a picnic lunch for full day game drive heading to the Mara River, hoping to see a dramatic river crossing or two. It is quite some sight to see the massed herds take a leap of faith into the Mara or sand rivers with the Nile crocodiles lying in wait for them. Return to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 Masai Mara Game Reserve - Trailing The Wildebeest

We will spend the day exploring the Masai Mara, with its abundance of large mammals and diverse bird life. We have the option to either have full and complete days out in the field when both breakfast and lunch can be served out on the savannah or we can return to lodge/camp for lunch.

Big cats are a very prominent feature of the Masai Mara and also include Cheetahs and Leopards, both of which are fairly straightforward to find here. We are definitely at ‘Predator Central’ here and there can be few.

If any wildlife spectacles anywhere in the world that can rival the tension, drama and emotion of a Mara crossing. As many as a million wildebeest and 200,000 zebra attempt this epic journey each year. Watching as thousands of wildebeest and zebra gather at a crossing point you can almost feel the pressure build on the animals at the front as they consider the right time to attempt to cross the dangerous waters of the crocodile-infested Mara River.
It is, however, a time of plenty for the gigantic Nile Crocodiles that live in the river and lie in wait as hundreds of thousands of animals head north from the Serengeti Plains to feed on the lush Mara grasslands. The foaming waters, noise, and drama of a Mara crossing has to be experienced to be believed and offers dramatic action photo opportunities.

Dinner and overnight stay at lodge/camp.

Day 4 Masai Mara- Nairobi

After breakfast we check out of the lodge/camp and head back to Nairobi to arrive in the evening. Lunch enroute. Drop off at your hotel or Airport
